Hobbies that can get women outside and moving

Central Missouri women typically look forward to fresh air and new activities every January when their desire for cabin fever peaks in the heart of winter and they make resolutions for the next year. To improve your physical, social, and emotional health in 2023, follow that example and go outside with some new activities.

Hiking

Selecting hiking as a new 2023 pastime will allow you to take use of the nearby trails. Regions like Central Missouri offer a wide variety of hiking opportunities with more than 30 miles of trail routes and several more in the vicinity and state parks.

Enjoy some beginner-friendly hiking by making your way around the Frog Hollow route, or find some winter solitude at the quiet Runge Nature Center loops. Dedicated hikers, dog walkers, and trail users in the region get together as the Jefferson City Trail Users club to share tips for successful trail outings.

Don't let the brisk weather keep you from exploring this new activity in winter by dressing warmly.

Golfing

There are women who play golf as well as men.

Near Jefferson City and the Lake of the Ozarks are a number of championship-caliber golf courses. It is a terrific activity to take up for sociable and informal fun in the sun since it is one of the most mainstream sports in the country.

Check out the golf lessons at Oak Hills Golf Center, Jefferson City's sole public golf course, whether you're new to the game and want to feel at ease playing on the course or if you just want to play occasionally.

In addition, Oak Hills has an open women's league every Wednesday morning throughout the summer so that you may make friends and chat while playing golf. You don't have to buy a set of clubs until you've played a few rounds of golf because many courses provide rental clubs.

Biking

This pastime is a good choice for 2023, whether you do it alone or in a group. Regular cycling has a plethora of health advantages, but it is also a lot of fun and fantastic for engaging with others. Residents of Central Missouri have a luxury of access to the well-known Katy Trail. Get on your bike and ride to Hartsburg for lunch, or spend the weekend in Hermann, Missouri. If you don't have a bike, it's not a problem. To travel the roads or trails, rent a bike from Red Wheel Bikes.

For cyclists to discover the city and gain more confidence navigating it on two wheels, Jefferson City provides a community bike ride program. In Jefferson City, there are several routes, greenways, and bike-friendly streets that are open to riders of all skill levels. Lead Cycling Instructors (LCIs) David Bange and Jim Coleman are in charge of leading these rides.

Disc Golf

Make your nature adventures more enjoyable and challenging! All skill levels and ages may participate in the family-friendly sport of disc golf. To get started I n one of Jefferson City's two championship-caliber, free disc golf courses from Binder Park, pick up a few discs at the neighborhood H.O.B Disc Sports shop. That's all there is to it: simply throw the disc from the tee pad and aim to get it into the basket with the fewest number of throws possible. Finding the optimal paths for your disc to go while maneuvering it through the trees is the challenging part. If you want a nice and enjoyable method to learn the sport, join the women's disc golf league! In addition to hosting leagues and competitions in the region, the Jefferson City Disc Golf Club also organizes monthly get-togethers for social rounds of the expanding sport.

Pickleball

You may participate in one of the adult sports with the fastest national growth, pickleball! Pickleball is an entertaining sport that blends aspects of tennis, badminton, and ping-pong into a fun game that may be played in singles or doubles. Pickleball classes are available at JC Parks, where you can learn the fundamentals of the game as well as the rules if you want to become more comfortable with it before playing with others. Jefferson City's very own pickleball club is also open to people of all ages and skill levels! You are welcome to take part in this friendly and cozy setting, where there are chances for both leisure and competition. Navigate your way into pickleball to see what all the fuss is about!
